Waking Up In Jail (Week 1)
I wake up in a hard, uncomfortable bed, look around and see bars, bricks, and my very own in-room toilet. While many features relate to my typical dorm room, a couple features just don't seem right. My head is pounding, and the impact of where I am has yet to hit me. Instinctively I reach into my pocket to find my phone. As I pull it out a platinum cap, car keys, and two crinkled pieces of papers fall out. As I go to unlock my phone, I notice it's cracked and completely dead. I am starting to wake from this drowsy state and tie my hair back, in this process I find a large bump on the side of my head. I pull myself together and start to make sense of where I am. Clearly, by the in-room toilet and bars, I'm in jail. As my heart starts to race, I pick up the items and try to make sense of it all. Last night I was drinking rum and coke, not Platinums. I lift up my shirt and see sixteen hash marks. I remember my friend Bri telling me that some of the girls were talking about this fun drinking game In class on Friday. The one with the most hash marks by two would get a case of Platinums. Unfortunately, I let my Competitive side take over no matter what the risks are most of the time; This seemed to be one of them. I crack a smile knowing I won, and then reality hits me once again. I snatch the papers off the ground and look at them. One of them is a receipt to Steak and Shake. There's only one shake on it, and it's red velvet, not even my friends like that kind. My head is still pounding making it hard to focus, so I look at the next paper. It's an address, a familiar address. My heart starts racing. I get out of bed and start pacing in my cell. I start to be short of breath. I didn't; I couldn't; I did. How did I end up in jail on this lovely Sunday morning? I went to visit my ex. Before I went out that night, I was on Instagram, and he posted a picture with his family. I remember reminiscing for a few seconds before I remember all the shit we went through together. I poured my friends a drink, and we took a drink for ex's and cheered to the fact that they are only in our past now. After we had finished getting ready, we caught a ride to the party from some girls down the hall. When we got there, we played flip cup, pong, and 21. After playing these games, everything got a little fuzzy. I then texted my ex. The girls in Bri's class then show up with a case of Platinums and asked, "who's in?". All my friends and I looked at each other and stepped up to the challenge. As the night when on I continued to text my ex back here and then, and eventually he asked me to come over. It was almost two, and the game was about to come to an end, so I gulped down two more shots and waited for the results. I won the case only by a couple shots. At this point, I was about to try and leave, so I took one and hid the rest in the bathroom to come back for in the morning. My phone was almost dead, so I went to the kitchen to grab a pen and write down his address. Then I went around and asked people if they could give me a ride to that address, but they had all been drinking and refused. So then I went on a hunt for some keys. I ended up finding some on top of the fridge in a bowl. I snagged a pair and snuck out the back door. I pressed the lock button looking for the lights and proceeded towards the car. I got in and took off. About two blocks down the road was a Steak and Shake. I remembered how he loved red velvet shakes, so I decided to pick him up one. I proceeded down the road after picking up the shake. I was so intoxicated that I only made it a couple more blocks without running off of the road crashing into a tree. I hit my head on the side window causing me to have a large bump and a headache. I pulled the keys out of the ignition, got out of the car to see the damage, and sat my ass on the sidewalk waiting for the police. Let's just say my roommate back at home is going to enjoy some peace and quiet for a while.
