DCWS Community (Week 2)

One of the best communities I have been introduced to is the women's soccer team at defiance college. I know it seems typical, an athlete referring to their sport, but this community is not as typical as the other ones I have been a part of. This community started off as a group of sixteen girls who had met each other at a max of twice, some not even once. The basis of our information of each other was off of social media. We could see what they looked like on Instagram, and see what they had to say on Twitter, but that didn't mean to much. Anyone can put up a front on social media. The one thing that we all had in common was a love for soccer that lead us to defiance. We showed up on the first day and finally got the chance to meet each other. From that moment on we would eat, sleep, and play together. The next two weeks we were in preseason and by coaches orders, unable to talk to anyone, boy or girl, from any team within the college. This made our bonds grow stronger, to the point that even when we were able to talk to anyone we still chose each other first. We are a community of girls who love and support each other. While we may fight, but we have each others backs when it comes to outside factors. We have team breakfasts, lunch and dinners. We get together to celebrate birthdays, achievements, and much more. We support each other through thick and thin. It is the best community I have ever been a part of.

    Well spoken. Rumors are a nasty cancer born out of the hate in society. Part of rebuking that hate is breaking that dark cycle you talk about.

Roommate

Going into college there are many things that might be worrisome. My biggest worry however did not lie within the academic or athletic portion of school, but who I would be stuck living with for 3/4 of the year. While every student fills out a housing application to help them find a "best fit" roommate, compatibility is hard to determine on paper. Once the results came back all I had was a name and a phone number. Like anyone would in today's day and age, I got on social media and tried to figure out who this person was/is. I would not suggest looking to into this approach though. Like they say, don't judge a book by its cover. Also its probably not best to judge someone by a single quote. Luckily after all my worrying I got stuck with a great roommate. In fact all of my friends have had at least one complaint about theirs, but I was just stuck shaking my head and pretending to understand.

Goodbye

How do people do it? I have never been one to say goodbye. I am more of a see ya later kinda girl. Even when I know it truly is a goodbye moment I am always in denial and convince myself that at some point I will see someone again. Watching all the seniors prep for graduation helps me realize that their actually will be an end though, and I am definitely not ready for it. Everyone has big dreams and jobs that will take them all over the US. I mean I can't even be upset because I want to live in North Carolina. After graduation we all won't be 3 hours away, we will be like 10-15 hours away. How am I supposed to leave my closest friends that I practically lived with for four years goodbye, and I will see you every other year maybe if we are lucky? I am glad I am a freshman because the thought of this makes me sick to my stomach. I love my friends and saying goodbye just for the summer will be hard enough. Senior year, please come slowly.

One of these elements is poverty, which affects a little over fourteen percent of americans, according to the 2013 US Census Bureau study. This poverty grows within the minorities of the population. Within the Black community 25.8 percent have fallen into this poverty line. Poverty within a community can lead to unhealthy qualities including unhealthy living situations, bad health decisions, and limited education. Every community has some sort of housing, the amount and quality of this housing is different among each community. Within the united states the housing in poverty stricken areas are normally made up of a large apartment style of housing, or a shelter for the homeless.
